SPACEX TO LAUNCH STARLINK 8-2 MISSION FROM VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE ON THURSDAY

SpaceX is set to launch another batch of Starlink satellites, specifically the Starlink 8-2 mission, from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Thursday. This mission will feature 13 additional satellites equipped with Direct to Cell capability, bringing the total number of Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit to 25. The launch was initially scheduled for Wednesday but was postponed to Thursday for unspecified reasons.

The Falcon 9 rocket, with the first stage booster B1082, will be used for this mission, marking its fourth launch. After liftoff, the booster is expected to land on the SpaceX droneship 'Of Course I Still Love You,' making it the 89th landing for OCISLY and the 306th booster landing overall.

The Direct to Cell feature of the Starlink constellation is a recent addition, with SpaceX announcing the launch of 12 such satellites prior to this mission. This launch highlights the rapid advancements in the Western Range's ability to support orbital flights, as the Starlink 8-2 mission will be the 15th launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base, demonstrating significant progress compared to the facility's operations in 2023.

Stay tuned for live coverage of the launch, which is set to take place at 8:20 p.m. PDT on Thursday. This mission represents another step forward in SpaceX's efforts to expand its satellite network and provide enhanced connectivity services.
